Mustapha et Sadri Ferchiou
For 30 years, FARAH Company has established itself as a leader in Tunisia in the processing of red meats and related products.
Trained initially by their father, Mr. Slaheddine Ferchiou — a senior official of the Tunisian state — brothers Mustapha and Sadri, both recent graduates from Canadian universities, ventured into private entrepreneurship in 1991 by taking over an old family business: FARAH.
Young and driven, they were determined to carry on the expertise passed down through four generations in the field of red meat processing. The two young entrepreneurs committed themselves to improving and modernizing the company’s production tools.
Since then, FARAH has expanded to include red meat processing units, beef and lamb deboning and cutting facilities, a production line for processed meat products, and a distribution platform for frozen goods dedicated to the professional foodservice sector.
In 2001, FARAH became the first Tunisian company in its industry to partner with the Tunisian National Upgrading Program, establishing itself as the country’s first red meat processing platform to meet European standards.
Today, with a capital of 2 million TND, FARAH’s production facility spans 2,600 square meter , including 500 square meter of office space. The company has storage facilities for frozen goods (700 tons), chilled goods (120 tons), and dry products (100 tons). The fleet of specialized refrigerated vehicles has expanded to 15 bi-temperature trucks.
To support its growth, FARAH Company recently acquired warehouses in Ben Arous Industrial Zone, covering an area of 2,880 square meter, including 400 square meter of office space, with storage capacities of 700 tons for frozen goods and 100 tons for chilled goods.
FARAH has also implemented an integrated quality and food safety management system in compliance with international standards ISO 22000- Food safety management systems- and ISO 9001 – Quality management systems. The company holds the DA-RB 0102 sanitary approval.
The company has secured commercial agreements with the country’s largest hotel chains, catering companies, and supermarket groups. It has also established partnerships with major international brands such as McCain Foods International, which FARAH has represented in Tunisia since 1996.
In 2008, FARAH launched a line of halal-certified beef deli products for both professionals and individual consumers, including salami, bacon, dried meat, smoked sausages, mini sausages, and chorizo. These products are certified “Halal” through a certificate issued jointly by INNORPI (National Institute for Standardization and Industrial Property) and the Mufti of the Republic of Tunisia (the country’s highest Islamic religious authority).
FARAH is also active in the frozen food trade, offering premium frozen French fries and vegetables, as well as seafood, salmon, and foie gras.
